Paneer cup-shaped idly
Cup idlis are not new to the idly variety. Idlys have a cup-like appearance, but one or two can be quite satisfying. When filled with nutrient-dense vegetables they can become an ideal food for weight watchers. In general, cup idlys are made using steel cups. The batter is poured into a steel cup that is greased with oil and steam cooked as usual in an idly steamer. But now SunBrand has manufactured cup idly plates that make it convenient for you to make cup idlys with ease without getting your hands burnt.
Ingredients needed:
Curd, semolina, chickpea flour, cottage cheese, carrot, capsicum, green coriander, green chili, salt, oil, curry leaves, fruit salt
Method:
Combine semolina with chickpea flour and curd that has been whisked in a large bowl. The batter should be smooth and lump-free. Once the batter is ready, combine the carrots, capsicum, green coriander, green chilies, and a teaspoon of salt. Then, lay the batter aside for 15 minutes to set if it is too dense. Grate some paneer in the interim. Add grated paneer to it when it has been set. Water should be added to the batter if it seems dense.
Note: Don’t stir the batter too much or for too long; simply mix it until the fruit salt is thoroughly incorporated. Add 1 tsp. of fruit salt and 1 tsp. of water to the batter.
Now that the batter is ready for steaming spoon it into the SunBrand cup idly plate. Wait until the idly cooks soft and fluffy, once it is done steaming remove it with a spoon and serve with coconut chutney.

Sweet shell-shaped idly
If you’re tired of idlys that are round, you can now get them to look wonderful like seashells using shell-shaped idly plates. Also, imagine if these delightfully looking idlys are sweet to taste. Yes, now make sweet shell-shaped idlys with this simple recipe that gives you soft, spongy fluffy idly sweetened with jaggery. It has the flavor of cardamom, moong dal, and grated coconut which goes well with ginger or garlic chutney.
Ingredients needed:
Idly batter, jaggery, water, cardamom, grated coconut, moong dal, and oil.
Method
Moong dal is dry-roasted over a low flame until it gets a pale golden color. Put out the flame when the dal turns a light golden color and place it aside. Jaggery and water are now added to the same pan. When the jaggery has completely dissolved, stir thoroughly, turn off the heat, and set the mixture aside to cool. Now place thick idly batter in a cup and top with a jaggery and cardamom powder combination. Mix well. Idly pancakes will not rise if the batter is too thin. After adding the jaggery mixture, if your batter still seems thin, add some more.
Shell-shaped Idly plates should now be greased with a few drops of oil, followed by a layer of moong dal, a teaspoon of grated coconut, and then a ladle of batter. The idly plate should now be placed in an idly steamer and cooked for 10 minutes. Remove the idly plate from the steamer as it is finished, and then set it aside for a moment. After one minute, wet a spoon with some water and scoop the idly from the idly plate. Serve it hot with ginger chutney or enjoy it by itself!

Broken wheat Thattu idly
Today, Thattu Idly is well-known at numerous restaurants. In comparison to the typical idlys we make at home, it is considerably larger. In order to make thattu idlys, the batter is often poured onto a tiny plate that has been prepared with oil and steamed. However, SunBrand has created an idly plate specifically developed to cook thattu idlys to make it more convenient for the chefs. There are two types of SunBrand thattu idly plates: ones with and ones without a non-stick coating. With SunBrand thattu idly plates, making thattu idly is pure delight. Use broken wheat instead of the usual idly batter to make this enormous idly healthier. Here is a recipe to make broken wheat thattu idlys.
Ingredients needed:
Broken wheat. Grated carrot, chopped coriander, salt as required, curd/yogurt, buttermilk, and fruit salt.
Method:
To create a batter, the dry components must be combined. 10 minutes of resting time will allow the wheat to soften and absorb the curd’s sour flavor. The consistency can then be changed by adding more water or buttermilk. Just before steaming the idly, add the fruit salt in the end. Fruit salt aids in aerating the batter and causes the idly to puff up when they steam, which makes them tender.
Serve the delicious, quick broken wheat Rava idli with your choice of chutney, such as tomato or kara. This Broken Wheat Idli pairs quite well even with a straightforward Idli Podi.
